Audio books are a great way to experience your favorite works of fiction and nonfiction as never before. With an audio book, you can listen and absorb more than you may be able to with the printed version. You can't read a book while doing things like driving, using the treadmill, or mopping the floor, but you can listen to one. For today's busy people, the audio book is often the preferred literary format. There are multiple ways to acquire and enjoy these types of books. You can buy them, of course. But if cost is a consideration, you can also rent them.

It's likely that your local library will have a variety of titles available for free rental. But if they don't have the titles you're looking for, there are other options for people who would rather rent their audio materials. A simple search engine query can lead you to a variety of different options for renting the audio books of your choice on CD. While policies and procedures vary from company to company, the basic premise is quite similar. Most of the time, you'll pay a monthly fee for a certain number of rentals.

Sometimes, you can rent unlimited audio books for a small monthly charge. This means there's no limit on how many you can rent in a month, although there will be a limit on how many you can have out at a time. For example, you might be able to have a maximum of three audio books at any one time. Once you finish one, you can send it back and choose a title to replace it. This means you'll always have new audio books to enjoy!

Many people are choosing to download their audio books on MP3. This makes the ability to rent audio books obsolete, of course. However, some decide to stick with CDs for various reasons. They may not have an MP3 player. They might enjoy listening to audio books in their vehicle's CD player.
